On March 28, 2026, the Da Nang City People’s Committee held a ceremony to announce the commencement of the Lien Chieu Container Port master-project with a total investment of over 2 billion USD, marking an important step in the development of port infrastructure in the Central region.

The event was attended by Comrade Le Ngoc Quang – Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the City Party Committee; Comrade Pham Duc An – Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the People’s Committee of the City; Comrade Nguyen Xuan Sang – Deputy Minister of Construction; and leaders of Hateco – APMT Group, the investor of the project.
Orientation towards “smart ports – green ports”
The project, scale of 172.6 hectares, is envisioned to develop into a modern container port and international transshipment hub for the Central region. Its designed capacity is approximately 5.7 million TEUs per year (equivalent to about 74 million tons of cargo), with projected operational output reaching 14.25 to 36.3 million tons per year by 2030.

Perspective of Lien Chieu Container Port in Da Nang
The planned port area includes 8 container berths with a total wharf length of approximately 2,750 m, capable of receiving container ships up to 18,000 TEUs; applying modern technology and automation to improve operational efficiency.
The project will be implemented in 3 phases (2026-2036), with a total investment of over 50,000 billion VND (over 2 billion USD) and an operating period of 50 years.
